Project overview

Crafting a Serene Digital Retreat

We were tasked with creating a website for Monist, a boutique hotel located in Palanga. Our primary objective was to attract career-focused individuals aged 30-50 seeking a high-quality, peaceful escape. To achieve this, we aimed to ensure full occupancy during the peak season and over 55% occupancy in the off-season. The website needed to effectively communicate Monist’s unique value propositions and establish it as a serene, boutique retreat.

MEASURABLE IMPACT

(1)

+190% ROOM RESERVATIONS

Clicks on the room reservation CTA, which is the final on-site action before guests transition to the booking system, grew nearly three-fold year-over-year.

(2)

+86% CONVERSION RATE

Even after accounting for traffic growth, the share of sessions that reach the reservation step nearly doubled. The site is converting visitors materially better than a year earlier.

(3)

+56% MORE VISITORS

Sessions and unique users both grew significantly year-over-year. The hotel is reaching meaningfully more people in its third year of operation.

(4)

+50% DIRECT TRAFFIC

Visits where users arrive by typing the URL or clicking a bookmark, meaning guests who already know the brand, grew strongly while engaging more deeply per visit. The hotel's audience is returning on purpose.

The challange

Standing Out in a Saturated Market

The hotel industry, particularly in seaside areas like Palanga, often suffers from monotonous and inconsistent communication strategies. Many hotels struggle to engage their audience effectively on social media, leading to a lack of brand differentiation. In this saturated market, Monist needed to stand out by avoiding industry clichés and crafting a unique, compelling brand presence. Additionally, our target audience had high standards for quality and uniqueness, requiring a strategy that resonated with their desires for relaxation and connection while also leveraging social media for effective engagement.

The project began with the UX phase, where we focused on understanding user needs and behaviors to create a user-centric design. Initial wireframes and prototypes were developed to establish the structure and flow of the website, ensuring a seamless user journey. This phase was crucial in identifying key user interactions and optimizing the layout to enhance usability and accessibility.

The result

the concept of resting slowly

In the UI phase, we adapted visual elements provided by another agency, which included the logo, color palette, fonts, and high-quality photographs of the hotel’s interior and exterior. Our design prioritized simplicity and consistency, balancing these with a strong visual hierarchy to guide users effortlessly. We utilized whitespace to create visual breathing space, promoting a serene and pleasing experience. This approach minimized distractions, enhanced focus, and facilitated effortless information processing and understanding. By integrating visuals, including animated illustrations by Justina Leisyte and elegant photography, we elevated the informativeness of content, boosted user engagement, and created a memorable experience for visitors. A minimalistic approach with ample whitespace and a focus on typography was chosen to accentuate the imagery.

To generate early interest and excitement, we launched a coming soon page, developed entirely by our designer. This page provided a sneak peek of Monist’s brand essence and upcoming offerings. Simultaneously, the full website design phase commenced, ensuring consistency with the initial UX insights. Both the coming soon page and the full website were developed on Webflow, allowing for efficient implementation and seamless integration of the design elements.
