Intellectus is a language school specializing in teaching English to both adults and children. It's a vibrant community dedicated to making language learning a truly engaging and rewarding experience. With personalized and innovative teaching methods, they strive to lead the market by creating a positive and effective learning environment.

We transformed Intellectus' digital presence by redesigning their website to make the customer experience as smooth as possible. Our focus was on uplifting their online presence while incorporating strong messaging aligned with Intellectus’ new positioning, developed by Synthesis CG.

The challange

Digital transformation

One of the primary challenges Intellectus faced was navigating a complex, multi-channel user journey. While most users explore services and register online, the final step—completing enrollment—requires a follow-up phone call from the school. During this call, not only is enrollment finalized, but customers are also guided through personalized consultations to ensure they were matched with the most suitable course based on their needs and language proficiency.

Given Intellectus’ extensive range of services, from English courses for adults and corporate training to tutoring for children across various school subjects, simplifying this journey was essential. Our goal was to create an engaging process that allowed users to explore the offerings and feel confident in their choices—without placing pressure on them to make a final decision on the spot. Since the ultimate course selection and enrollment were handled through the consultation call, the website needed to facilitate exploration while gently guiding users toward that next step.

However, we encountered another key challenge: the school's vibrant, welcoming atmosphere—a core part of its identity—was not reflected in its digital presence. Known for its lively, supportive environment, Intellectus’ energy was missing online, which risked lowering user engagement and discouraging enrollment. This highlighted the importance of building a digital presence that conveyed the school’s unique spirit.

Guiding users through the exploration process

Our redesign of the Intellectus website began with simplifying the multi-channel user journey. The primary goal was to remove any potential friction that could hinder users, while encouraging them to explore the wide range of services available and ensuring that everyone could find a learning path tailored to their needs.

To gain deeper insights, we conducted interviews with key stakeholders responsible for different services at Intellectus. This allowed us to understand both the challenges faced by their customers and internal pain points. In parallel, we carried out an analysis of website performance using Google Analytics, identifying how the current site was being used, uncovering friction points, and pinpointing areas in need of improvement.

With these insights in hand, we developed user personas representing the main groups of Intellectus’ audience, detailing their specific user flows. To further refine our understanding, we mapped out the complete user journey for each persona, identifying their actions, pain points, and key opportunities for enhancement. This comprehensive research formed the foundation for creating wireframes that addressed user needs while improving the overall site experience.

Defining Visual language

Building on the challenge of translating Intellectus' vibrant, welcoming atmosphere into their digital presence, we set out to create a visual language that captured the school’s unique energy. We began by crafting two distinct design directions, both reflecting the essence of the school but with a different focus: one emphasized professionalism, while the other leaned into friendliness and warmth. These concepts allowed the client to clarify their vision for Intellectus' digital presence.

After a workshop with stakeholders, the chosen direction was a warm and slightly quirky design language that emphasized coziness and support. The final design incorporated warm neutral colors, paired with Intellectus’ signature green, and featured a mix of photos and playful collages to showcase the school’s lively atmosphere. Funky illustrations and fun, yet easy-to-read typography contributed to the welcoming feel. Key graphic elements, such as chat bubbles and hand-drawn scribbles, were introduced to capture the essence of the brand, creating an inviting and dynamic online presence.

A unified brand, two unique experiences

To make sure the design system feels intuitive and engaging for all users, we adapted it to fit the unique needs of different audiences—children and adults—while keeping everything under one brand. The pages for children's English courses and summer camps burst with playful energy, featuring a more dynamic color scheme and fun scribbles that mimic a child’s doodles. These elements create a sense of creativity and excitement, making learning feel like an adventure.

Meanwhile, the adult course pages have a structured look with cleaner design elements that feel professional yet welcoming. This balance ensures that each audience feels right at home while navigating the site, with visuals that match their experiences.

Building a sustainable design system

Intellectus had previously struggled with maintaining consistency across their website, especially when adding new services or creating additional pages. To address this challenge, we focused on building a sustainable design system that would ensure cohesion and streamline future updates. As we developed the UI design based on the newly established direction, every design element was carefully considered with scalability in mind.

We constructed an extensive design library, consisting of reusable components that would make it easier for Intellectus to create new pages and adapt their website over time. This system not only simplifies future design projects but also ensures that the website can grow and evolve seamlessly while maintaining a consistent look and feel.

A seamless and engaging experience

After extensive research, numerous insights and hypotheses, we addressed every potential pain point and challenge throughout the redesign process. The new and improved user flow now seamlessly guides visitors through the website, inviting them to explore and engage with Intellectus' services. We achieved this by immersing users in an intuitive journey, encouraging self-discovery through interactive elements and widgets specifically designed to enhance their experience. The final website boasts a unique visual style that not only sets Intellectus apart from its competitors but also effectively captures the welcoming and vibrant atmosphere of the school.
